The Brazilian Journal of Microbiology - ISSN 1517-8382 - is the new journal published quarterly by the Sociedade Brasileira de Microbiologia - SBM (Brazilian Society for Microbiology), replacing the Revista de Microbiologia - ISSN 0001-3714.
The new journal begins with vol. 31, issue 1, of January/March 2000, following the sequence of numbering of its predecessor, which was published from 1970 to 1999, vol. 1 to vol. 30.
The Brazilian Journal of Microbiology is intended to publish original research papers, research notes and, occasionally, reviews, covering all aspects of Microbiology. The texts submitted for publication must be written in English. The journal has a severe policy of manuscript evaluation, and each manuscript is evaluated by at least two criteriously selected referees.
The abbreviated title of the journal is Braz. J. Microbiol., which should be used in bibliographies, footnotes, bibliographical references and strips.
Indexed with Directory of Open Access Journals DOAJ, Google Scholar, Embase, Scopus, Cinahl, Ebsco, and Gale.
